Couples can hike 1.5 miles to take photos amidst these incredible views of the sandstone and canyons of Zion National Park. The wedding ceremony itself cannot take place here as it is not on the National Park Service wedding location list for Zion, but it is a lovely spot for wedding photography afterward. You can view the approved location for the Temple of Sinawava that Brian and Danielle chose here. The ceremony location has multiple beautiful photo opportunities as you can see from Brian and Danielle’s wedding ceremony photos.

What do I need to know about taking photos on the Canyon Overlook Trail at Zion National Park?

The Canyon Overlook Trail is a must-do for anyone visiting Zion National Park. It can be a lovely addition to your wedding day. Imagine spending part of your first day as husband and wife with these views! It is the shortest hike in the park to get you to a viewpoint overlooking Zion Canyon. The view is absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset.

The hike takes approximately 1-hour round trip, but you will naturally want to plan time for photos, too. Good news – no permit is needed to take pictures on this trail so it is an ideal location for post-ceremony photos. Rated as a moderate hike, there is an elevation gain of 163 feet on the trail. Parts are steep, but it is doable. This trail is open for hiking year-round but may be muddy due to rain or icy in the winter. It is important to note that pets are not allowed.

As you can see from Brian and Danielle’s photos, the trail provides multiple photo-worthy backdrops for your post-ceremony pictures. From the canyon overlook to the shaded alcoves, this location is worth the walk.
